Anger Management Pt.1
King’s Promise

The Standard of God for Man
Ephesians 4:26
Be you angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down on your wrath: Neither give
place to the devil.

Results of Man’s Anger
Cain and Abel – Genesis 4:1-8
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said,
I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2And she again bore his brother Abel.
And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3And in
process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground
an offering unto the LORD. 4And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his
flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his
offering: 5But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And Cain was
very angry wroth, and his countenance fell. 6And the LORD said unto Cain,
Why art thou angry wroth? And why is thy countenance fallen? 7If thou doest
well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the
door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. 8And
Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the
field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

God’s view on Man’s Anger
James 1:20
For the wrath of man works not the righteousness of God.

Proverbs 16:32
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that rules his spirit
than he that takes a city.

What is the Solution? How can we meet God’s standard in Ephesians 4:26

a. Forgiveness
Ephesians 4:31
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put
away from you, with all malice; 32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God, for Christ’s sake, hath forgiven you.

b. Remembering How God Treats Us
Isaiah 43:24-25
But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses.
25 I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and
remembers your sins no more.

c. Desiring Oneness in God’s Kingdom
Ephesians 4:3
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
4There is one body and one Spiritjust as you were called to one hope when you
were called 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who
is over all and through all and in all.
